Immigration Task Force

2nd Wednesdays of every month, 6:30 - 7:30 pm - Anthony Lounge, Education Wing

Except for our indigenous sisters and brothers, we in the United States are all descended from immigrants, whether voluntary or involuntary. Caught once again in an era of intolerance, how quickly we forget that welcoming the stranger has been a blessing for us all.

This Task Force not only organizes around immigration reform, we also provide Sanctuary, Migrant Hospitality with Valley-wide community partners, as well as DACA and gap scholarships for those living in Arizona.

2nd Friday Social

2nd Fridays of the Month 6:30 - 8:30 pm - Pilgrim Hall, Education Wing

At First Church we seek to be a community that develops supportive relationships with each other.  A memorable evening of fun can be the easiest way to deepen a friendship.  2nd Fridays are an opportunity to connect with each other and enjoy something social: movie night, Christmas caroling, talent show, game night, potluck, chili cook-off...and these events are free and open to the public.

Townsend Park Community Meetings

4th Tuesdays of the Month 10:00 - 11:15 am

These community meetings are open to the public and take a collaborative approach to making Townsend Park the best community to worship, work, live, and play in Downtown Phoenix.

The Art of Justice Open Mic & Art Show

Last Tuesdays of the Month 6:00 - 9:00 pm - Pilgrim Hall, Education Wing

Art of Justice is an all ages open mic and art show experience. We seek to express the reality of systematic injustice through visual and performing arts, ultimately promoting activism and direct action.

This open mic is open to all types of performers and your art does not need to be social justice-centered to perform. We feature a different local talent each month that will use their art to highlight the topic of the month. All others are welcome to share whatever talents they have and on whatever topics they wish to address as part of the open mic.

There will be a featured live painter, and organizations addressing the needs of the communities are provided with table space. This is where art meets activism.

Service Café

Quarterly discussions of current Social Justice topics and issues.  Participants learn from local leaders and leave with next steps of how to become engaged and advocate for change. Open to the public.
