JOIN THE
GREETER’S TEAM!
We are looking to build our Greeter Team. It is our intent to have 4 Greeters assigned each Sunday. Our goal is to build a diverse team of individuals, willing to commit to one Sunday a month.
-
The time commitment is from 10AM until Noon. In addition to “greeting” people as they enter the sanctuary for worship, the Greeters have additional responsibilities that are divided among the team each Sunday. Greeters help prepare for the worship service, i.e. light the candles and hand out the readings.
-
Greeters participate in the service, i.e. collect offerings and keep a watchful eye during the service for anyone in need or unusual occurrence/s that may arise. At the conclusion of the service, the Greeters offer assistance to anyone in need or requesting help, collect the bulletins left behind and restock the pews with needed materials. The Greeter’s role in our church is of critical importance. The following highlights this importance.
What we are looking for.
First Impressions Matter: The first impression someone has of our church often shapes their entire experience. By being a friendly and welcoming presence, greeters can make newcomers feel valued and accepted right from the start. This can be especially important for individuals who may have felt marginalized or excluded from other “religious” communities in the past.
Welcoming Atmosphere: Greeters are not only the first point of contact for newcomers, but for regular attendees alike. In our church, the greeting team plays a crucial role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who enters the church. They set the tone for inclusivity by their demeanor and hospitality, such as offering assistance to those who need it, showing kindness to strangers, and making sure everyone feels seen and heard.
Connecting People: Greeters not only welcome people at the door but can also help connect them with others in the congregation. This can be the beginning of building relationship with someone and our church community. People are more likely to come back if they feel “connected”.
Encouraging Participation: By making people feel welcomed and valued, greeters can encourage greater participation in church activities, from attending worship services to joining in community outreach or social justice initiatives. This helps strengthen our church community and its impact in the wider world.
